How to Find Real AI Jobs (That Are Actually Hiring)

Start at the source: company career pages

Nearly every company publishes openings through an applicant tracking system such as Greenhouse, Lever, or Ashby. When a role closes, it disappears from that feed immediately. Job boards that pull directly from those feeds stay accurate; boards that rely on manual submissions or scraped copies do not.

If a listing does not link to a company-owned apply page, treat it as unverified until you can find the same role on the employer's own careers site.

Check the signals that a role is live

Before you spend an hour on an application, spend two minutes on verification.

• The apply link resolves to the company's own ATS, not a third-party form.
• The posting date is recent, or the role was re-synced in the last few days.
• The team, manager, or requisition is mentioned by name somewhere public.
• The company is not in a hiring freeze announced in the last quarter.

Search by skill, not just by title

AI titles are inconsistent across companies. The same job may be posted as Machine Learning Engineer at one employer, Applied Scientist at another, and LLM Engineer at a third. Searching by the tools you actually use — PyTorch, RAG, vector databases, inference infrastructure — surfaces roles that a title search misses entirely.

Apply early, and apply narrow

Applications submitted in the first week of a posting get disproportionate attention. A daily-updated board matters more than a large one: twenty fresh roles beat two thousand stale ones. Pick the five that fit your skills closely and tailor each application rather than spraying fifty generic ones.
